Design Choices Move Indoors

Bringing the French Country design indoors is a multi-layered effort. We removed walls, creating open archways that mimic the arches over the exterior windows. Headers were added for support. When completed it will look as if this archway was always here.

From Traditional to Spectacular

French country windows set the mood

Windows are more than just a view to the outside world. They are an important element that help establish the design of a home. Highland Palermo is taking this home from a traditional stone house to a elegant French Country home.

As seen in a previous photo, these window began as traditional single hung windows in peaked dormers. We transformed all windows by creating an arch top with custom windows designed to mimic the arch. The new windows and metal roof help take this home from traditional to French Country.

Highland Palermo In Action

The homeowners of this home have previously worked with our sister company, Landfare Ltd., to create outdoor living spaces where they could entertain and relax. After purchasing a home on the Scioto River, they came to Highland Palermo for a complete home redesign. No simple remodel, this is a full interior and exterior remodel.

The existing back patio and decking of this home was removed to lay the groundwork for a new paver patio and pergola. What you can’t see is the view from this spot. Facing the Scioto River, these homeowners will enjoy a private view of the river that will be inspirational day or night.  Take a look at the second floor windows on the home. In future photos you’ll see how our design changed them from standard to French Country. Great design, good planning and skilled craftmanship, that’s the Highland Palermo way!

It Takes a Plan

Actually, every project starts with one thing: vision. Collaborating with the homeowner, the Highland Palermo team create the vision of what an existing home could be. We take the homeowners dream list, add our experience and knowledge base, and design their ultimate dream home.

Then we move into the planning stage. As you can see, some projects require reams of blueprints that address every stage of construction. Engineering, space allocation, design elements and materials. Once they are approved by the homeowner and permitted, work begins. That’s the plan!
